The abuse of alcohol remains one of the biggest influences on crime. The culture of binge drinking creates anti-social behaviour and also often leads to violence.

For offenders with alcohol related offences and issues, Wiltshire Probation Area provides pre-sentence assessments for the courts as well as for the prison service and parole board before offenders are released.

Wiltshire Probation Area has entered into a contracted partnership with Avon & Wiltshire Partnership who provide offenders with specialist advice, assistance, counselling and support as part of a community order or prison release licence.
